BELIZE!!!

Belize is located in Central America and it is bordered to the north by Mexico, to the south and west by Guatemala and to the east by the Caribbean Sea. We are a diverse country with various cultures and languages. We also have the lowest population density in Central America with 35 people per square mile or 14 people per square kilometer.

Belize is also known for its extreme biodiversity and distinctive ecosystems. On the coast, there is a swampy coastal plain with mangrove swamps. In the south and interior there are hills and low mountains. Most of our land is undeveloped and is forested with hardwoods. It is a part of the Mesoamerican biodiversity hotspot and it has many jungles, wildlife reserves, a large variety of different species of flora and fauna and the largest cave system in Central America. Some species of Belize’s flora and fauna include the black orchid, the mahogany tree, the toucan and tapirs.

When my fiancé and I decided that we wanted to have a destination wedding, we began meeting with different travel agents. The only thing we knew for sure is that we wanted to go to Mexico. We were searching for someone to guide us through the process and make recommendations, but we were also looking for a travel agent who could offer quality customer service. We weren’t having much luck at that point. It seemed like everyone we talked to took days to get back to us, and none of these agencies really had advice on destination weddings. Then I heard about Romantic Planet Vacations. A friend of mine had used them a year ago and had a really great experience. I reached out and was soon connected to Amy Wood. We chatted on the phone for over half an hour, and I felt so much stress melt away during those 30 minutes. Amy not only specializes in destination weddings, but she has had a destination wedding of her own, and has helped organized travel for over a hundred wedding parties. We decided to move forward, and the process from that point on was smooth sailing. She even went over and above to help me make some decisions about my wedding details, based on her own experiences, and she was amazing at coordinating travel for my friends and family. Amy even contacted us a couple of times while we were on our trip to make sure things were going well. During the weeks leading up to the wedding, one of our family members had a serious health issue and had to cancel the trip last minute. They didn’t purchase cancellation insurance, but Amy worked hard with the travel company to get some of their money back. We were one hundred percent satisfied with Amy’s services and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her!

We chose a destination wedding since half of our family and friends are from different parts of the country, and since travel was required, it made more sense for everyone to get a Mexico vacation out of it as well.  We spoke with a number of different travel agencies, and ultimately chose Amy Wood with Romantic Planet Vacations to assist us with our vacation planning.  This was due to a combination of unmatched customer service as well as very competitive pricing.  Amy was able to meet with us immediately and answer all of our questions and concerns in a very timely manner. There was no up front charge for their services, and everything was lumped into a simple all in price for us and all of our 65 guests, who came from 4 different cities across Canada.

Obviously given the large size of the group, there was a lot of coordination required throughout the entire process.  Amy worked diligently to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible, despite multiple issues that arose which were completely out of her control.  She even made herself available while on vacation in case we required any urgent assistance in the final weeks leading up to our big day.

In summary, we were extremely impressed with the services we received from Romantic Planet Vacations and Amy Wood, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone else looking to do a destination wedding, or a trip with a larger group.  Everything went so much smoother and was so much easier to plan having them on our team.  Thanks again for all your hard work!

My fiancé and I are getting married April 4th at the Now Jade resort. Our travel agent, Amy Wood in Calgary, has been absolutely amazing. I don’t usually send emails like this but I feel the need to let you know how great she has been. I have heard horror stories and have personally experienced horrible service with other travel agents for weddings down south, to the point I didn’t want to get married outside of Canada. Amy has completely changed our perspective and has gone above and beyond in every way. Our resort wasn’t easy to deal with initially and I know my fiancé and I weren’t either. The resort was beautiful and we had a pretty perfect wedding week. Definately recommend this resort – the staff was so friendly and Emma (our coordinator) did a fabulous job with all the little extras. Our ceremony location couldn’t have been more perfect and was decorated very beautifully. The dance we had on the sand was SO fun and beautiful the way they had it setup for us.
